  • Direct or develop system requirements analysis, system design, and trade-off studies in response to customer provided system specifications.
      
  • Provide technical leadership in complex systems analysis to lower level technical staff.

 

  • Utilize and innovate technology, and transfer current state-of-the-art technology to develop new hardware / software interfaces.
 
  • Formulate concepts for and develop new systems applications to fulfill user requirements for use of systems for retrieval of information or other computer-based systems.
 
  • Develop and specify operational design for maintaining information processing systems.
 
  • Manage overall enterprise server system resources management, including performance, security, accounting, and fault and configuration management.
 
  • Manage enterprise server system configuration, including accommodating new users, and managing remote printers and other hardware devices.
 
  • Manage enterprise server vendor interface, ensure cost-effective performance by vendors and that installed hardware performs to meet District needs, identify and propose opportunities for cost savings, etc.
 
  • Manage Business Services database management: (rollback, reorganize, garbage collection) for database (e.g. if any update program corrupts the database then perform rollback / reorganize, improves disk I/O by performing garbage collection).
 
  • Manage software upgrades, and operating systems and application software upgrades related to the Business Services server (system software patches, Business Services upgrades/patches), and manage all enterprise server software: evaluate and recommend new software for District's needs (e.g. report writers, system utilization analysis packages).
 
  • Performs needed cost/benefit analysis: develops cost analysis for proposed / requested telecom upgrades and related hardware changes.
 
  • Supervise computer operations: work with operations staff to ensure quality operations, including developing and documenting operations procedures (e.g. backups), job control (batch queuing, etc.), inventory of computer supplies / paper.
 
  • Assist in the preparation of the departmental budget
