Disabling Wireless Hotkey

I found the way to disable the Wireless hotkey button on the laptop. You do it under Setup.

Make sure you know the Wireless is on before doing this.

  1. Power up laptop and immediately press F2 to enter Setup mode.
  2. On the left, arrow down to “Wireless” and press “Enter.”
  3. On the left, arrow down to “Wireless Hotkey” and press “Enter.” The right side will display the different settings. It is defaulted to “Wi-Fi & BT.”
  4. Arrow over to “None” and press “Enter.”
  5. Press “Esc” then arrow over to “Save/Exit.” Press “Enter.”
  6. The laptop will start up.
  7. The green Wi-Fi symbol should be lighted. Now, pressing the Wireless button will have no effect.

We tested trying to turn the Wi-Fi off with the log in screen showing and after logging in as a student, guest, and Administrator. The Wi_Fi will not turn off.  This will keep our “creative” students thinking of new ways to mess with us.
